What is Flying Star feng shui?
Flying Star (Xuan Kong) feng shui maps nine stars across the nine palaces of your home's floor plan, based on its sitting/facing direction and the 20-year period it was built in. Each star carries an element and influences a life area.
How does this tool calculate feng shui?
We implement classical Xuan Kong Flying Star rules (Lo Shu flight path, yin/yang forward/reverse flight), the public-domain NOAA solar algorithm for daylight, and a simplified wind model, all computed in real time and documented in our Methodology page.
Is this real feng shui or just for fun?
The calculations follow classical Flying Star rules, but the tool is for entertainment, cultural, and educational purposes. It is not professional, medical, or financial advice. Classical feng shui requires a site visit and human judgment.
What is Period 9?
Feng shui divides time into 20-year periods. From 2024 to 2043 we are in Period 9, ruled by the 9 Purple Fire star, an era associated with visibility and technology.

How do I calculate my feng shui number?
Your Kua number is calculated from your birth year and gender. Add the last two digits of your birth year until you get a single digit, then subtract from 10 (male) or add 5 (female). Our calculator does this automatically.

The rule of 3 says that design elements look best in odd-numbered groups, especially three. In feng shui, it is often applied to decorative objects and furniture groupings to create visual balance.

A Flying Star chart maps nine stars across the nine palace sectors of your home. Each star has a number and element. The center star is set by the period and facing direction, and the other eight fly out along a fixed path.
What is Period 9 in feng shui?
Period 9 runs from 2024 to 2043, ruled by the 9 Purple Fire star. It shifts which directions are auspicious. South and southwest gain strength, while north and northwest weaken.
What is a Flying Star combination?
When two or more stars land in the same sector, they combine to produce a specific meaning. For example, 2-5 is the sickness star pairing best cured with metal elements like a brass bell or coin.
